JEE Mains 2026: Complete Chapter-wise Weightage for Physics, Chemistry & Maths
Discover the high-yield chapters that carry the highest marks in JEE Main. Analyze previous year papers (PYQs) to prioritize your revision syllabus.
Not all chapters in the JEE syllabus are created equal. By studying previous years' question distributions, we can identify which chapters carry high weightage and demand the most focus.
High-Weightage Chapters: Physics
Physics in JEE Main is heavily conceptual but includes straightforward scoring opportunities. Focus on:
- Modern Physics (Dual Nature, Atoms, Nuclei): 3-4 questions. Very high return on investment.
- Electrostatics & Current Electricity: 3-4 questions.
- Heat & Thermodynamics: 2-3 questions.
- Kinematics & Laws of Motion: 2-3 questions (essential foundation).
High-Weightage Chapters: Chemistry
Chemistry is divided into Physical, Organic, and Inorganic. Organic Chemistry has consistently seen high weightage in recent years:
- Coordination Compounds & d-Block Elements: 3 questions.
- Hydrocarbons & Halogen Derivatives: 3-4 questions.
- Chemical Bonding & Molecular Structure: 2 questions.
- Solutions & Electrochemistry: 2-3 questions.
High-Weightage Chapters: Mathematics
Mathematics has become the toughest section in recent JEE Main exams. Direct scoring chapters include:
- Matrices & Determinants: 2 questions (usually easy to score).
- Vectors & 3D Geometry: 3-4 questions. Crucial to master.
- Limits, Continuity & Differentiability: 2-3 questions.
- Sequence & Series: 1-2 questions.
